What's happening
As a reminder, Google introduced a new version of Search Ads 360 Reporting API with a new UI. Between February and April 2024, Google will migrate all remaining users to the new version of Search Ads 360, and the old Search Ads UI will no longer be available. Google plans to decommission the old Reporting API on June 30, 2024.
We have released a new Google Search Ads 360 connector to enable our customers to smoothly transition from the old Google Search Ads 360 to the new Search Ads 360. With this change, we've also renamed our old Google Search Ads 360 connector to Google Search Ads 360 (Legacy).
This article will help you understand the field mapping between the Google Search Ads 360 (Legacy) connector and our new Google Search Ads 360 connector.
Note
As Google's new reporting API for Search Ads 360 is in its early stages, some of the following field mappings may change. Moreover, some fields from the Google Search Ads 360 (Legacy) are currently not available in the new Google Search Ads 360 connector either because they have not been made available in the API or they have been removed.
The field mapping in this article was last updated on April 11, 2024.
What you need to do
You can set up new queries using the new Google Search Ads 360 connector or migrate your Google Search Ads 360 (Legacy) queries to use the new Google Search Ads 360 data source connector in Google Sheets.
Before starting the migration, explore the list of fields available in the old and new Google Search Ads 360 connectors at the bottom of this article. Use the list of available fields to set up your queries with the new Google Search Ads 360 connector.
Note that some of the fields available in the Google Search Ads 360 (Legacy) connector won't be available in the new Google Search Ads 360 connector. You shouldn't expect 1:1 reports since the data structures between the connectors and platforms differ.
Option 1: Create a new query
You can start fresh and build a new Google Search Ads 360 report from scratch. Use the fields listed at the end of this article to find the equivalent fields between Google Search Ads 360 (Legacy) and Google Search Ads 360.
Option 2: User our Google Search Ads 360 query migration tool in Google Sheets
Our Google Sheets query migration tool duplicates your spreadsheet and converts all queries created with the Google Search Ads 360 (Legacy) data source to the new Google Search Ads 360 data source connector using direct or closest equivalent fields.
- In Google Sheets, open a spreadsheet with Google Search Ads 360 (Legacy) queries.
- Go to Extensions → Supermetrics, and select Google Search Ads 360 query migration.
- If you haven't previously connected your Google Search Ads 360 account to Supermetrics, you'll be prompted to log in.
- If you have already connected to your Google Search Ads 360 account, select the connection you want to use. This is the email address used to connect to Google Search Ads 360.
- Map your Google Search Ads 360 (Legacy) views to your Google Search Ads 360 accounts. You can map all views to one account or even skip accounts.
- Once you've mapped your views, you’ll see a summary of what will happen. Click Apply and migrate.
When complete, the query tool creates a copy of your spreadsheet. Click the link to open the spreadsheet. - Verify that the results are okay. The ConversionSummary tab gives a summary of the metrics and dimensions that were migrated, and the ones that were left out due to not having an equivalent field in the new Google Search Ads 360 connector.
Remember, while migrating your reporting to the new connector, consider it an opportunity to rethink your data structures and data collection strategy. You may find yourself in a better place with your data than before the project started.
