Reddit Public Data: Connection guide

This guide will walk you through how to connect Reddit Public Data to Supermetrics with Google Sheets, Data Studio, and Excel, as well as data warehouse destinations like Google Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and API. 


Before you begin

Reddit Public Data allows you to collect publicly available data about Reddit posts. It doesn't require you to log in to a specific account.


Query types

  • Reddit user data fetches the user metadata for the specified account.
  • Reddit subreddit data fetches the metadata of the specified subreddit.
  • Reddit posts fetches post details for a given keyword from the given type.

Instructions

Google Sheets Data Studio  Excel Data integrations
Before you can authenticate the data source in Google Sheets, you need to install the Supermetrics add-on.
  1. Open a new Google Sheets file. 
  2. Click Add-ons → Supermetrics → Launch to open the sidebar.
  3. Under Data source, select the data source.
  4. Navigate to Report configuration.
  5. Under Query type, select the query type.
  6. Under Keywords insert keywords, usernames, or names for searching posts.

As additional filters, you can:

  • Choose the number of posts per keyword.
  • Translate post data into a specific language.
