How to check your license usage

The Usage page on the Supermetrics Hub gives you a wide view of how you and your team use your Supermetrics license. You can view your queries and their status, check account usage, or get a visual summary of how your team uses Supermetrics.

Check an overview of your usage

The Overview page shows the highlights of your team’s recent Supermetrics usage.

You will see a snapshot of the last 30 days by default, but you can change the month in the dropdown menu in the top right corner of the page. Please note that the current month will show a summary to date, so if you select March on March 15, you will see a summary that covers March 1 to March 14.

The numbers at the top of the page cover activity highlights. Here you can find the following:

  • Query volume shows the overall number of queries Supermetrics processed for you in the selected period.
  • Engaged users covers the number of your team members that have active queries. Please note that this number includes both new queries and those running automatically on a schedule.
  • Average query duration highlights the efficiency of your queries. When the number goes up, it might indicate complex, data-heavy queries that could overburden your systems, hinting at approaching capacity limits. To enhance performance, consider simplifying your queries or transitioning to a storage-based solution, please reach out to our team for more details.

Below, you'll find charts that clearly depict your team's usage patterns. The charts are interactive and you can click on an item to hide it or show it in the chart.

  • Trends in data source usage shows your total number of queries and highlights your top 5 most queried data sources.
  • User engagement helps you see the number of queries users in your team run on a daily basis. This includes both new and automated ones.
  • Account usage helps you see the number of accounts you use in your top 5 data sources.
  • Destinations in use shows the number of queries you have in the destinations you use. If you use only one destination, you will see your total daily number of queries here.
  • Query efficiency shows the average time it takes to process your queries and the number of failed query runs.
  • Rows returned (rolling 30 days) helps you control the number of rows returned with your queries for 5 most queried data sources. The rolling 30-day number on any day should not exceed 100 million rows unless stated otherwise in your contract. See our fair usage policy.

Check files and reports

The Query usage page shows the details of which reports you're using to run your queries, and if the queries were successful or not.

For Google Sheets, this view gives you a file ID with a link that lets you open the spreadsheet file directly.

  1. Open the Query usage page on the Usage page.
  2. Check from the top bar that you're in the right team.
  3. Use the dropdowns to filter the table details based on team members and products.
  4. Select a date range from the top of the page.

Note that the file ID isn't available for Looker Studio. If you follow the steps and select Looker Studio (formerly Data Studio), the "File ID" column in your results will be blank. This happens because of a limitation in Looker Studio — it's on Google's roadmap, but hasn't been fixed yet.

Check data source account usage

The Account usage page shows your team's usage per license.

  1. Open the Account usage page on the Usage page.
  2. Check from the top bar that you're in the right team.
  3. Select a license to view the data sources and accounts used by the license.
  4. Select a date range from the top of the page.

You will see the accounts used in your queries grouped by data source.
