Query types for this data source
With the Capterra PPC data source, you must select a query type to use. The query type defines what sort of metrics and dimensions are available.
- Clicks: Provides access to essential performance metrics like advertising costs, number of clicks, conversions, average position, CPC, CPA/CPL. Fetches and splits data using dimensions such as vendor, product, country, category, the channel where clicks occur, and time.

See your monthly ad spend
Fetch data on how much you've spent on advertising per month this year.
The "Cost" metric refers to the total cost incurred for all clicks on the advertisements during a set time period.
For best results in Looker Studio, use the bar chart type.
- Set the date range to This year to date.
- Select the Cost (USD) metric.
- Select the Year & month dimension to split the query results by month.
To get the advertising cost in EUR or GBP, use the Cost (EUR) or Cost (GBP) fields available in the Capterra PPC data source.
See conversions
Use the "Conversions" metric to see the number of desired actions users complete after clicking your ads. An action can be a newsletter signup, purchase, or app installation, for example. Here, we take a look at the data from the last month.
For best results in Looker Studio, use the time series chart type.
- Set the date range to Last month.
- Select the Conversions metric.
- Select the Date dimension to split the query results by date.
See cost and clicks per channel
Explore how much you've spent on ad clicks and how many times people have clicked the ads on different sites. In this example, we fetch the data for this year and compare the cost (in USD) and clicks split by channel.
For best results in Looker Studio, use the table chart type.
- Set the date range to This year.
- Select the Cost (USD) and Clicks metrics.
- Select the Channel dimension to split the query results by channel.
