New feature: Shared connections in Supermetrics for Looker Studio

What’s changing

In Looker Studio connections have been shared by default, but now you can use them across Supermetrics products (Excel). Shared connections allow you to authenticate to a data source account once and make that connection accessible (shared) with your team. Team members won’t have to log in again — they’ll be able to use your shared connection to fetch data.

You can keep a private connection private and unshare it with your team. However, it’s good to keep in mind that unsharing a connection will break all queries built with this connection.

Manage shared connections in Looker Studio

  1. Click the Edit icon next to your data source (or click Resource → Managed added data sources and click Edit there).
  2. Click Edit connection
  3. In the data source settings, click on the link at the end of the sentence that starts with “To add more/manage user accounts…”

  4. If you belong to multiple teams, you'll be asked to select one. Choose the team you'd like to manage.

  5. Select a connection to make private or share with your team.

  6. Click Done.
