Google Merchant Center connection guide

Follow these steps to connect your Google Merchant Center data to Supermetrics and use your data in any of our data destinations — Google Sheets, Looker Studio, and Excel, as well as the Supermetrics API. You can also connect to data sources from the Supermetrics Hub.


You can share your data source connection with your team and use the connection across all data destinations you use with Supermetrics. Learn more about shared connections.


Before you begin

To connect Supermetrics to your Google Merchant Center account, you need a Google Merchant Center ID. The ID can be found in the top right corner of your Google Merchant Center account.


Query types

  • Performance: Retrieve merchant performance metrics matching the search query and optionally segmented by selected dimensions.
  • Product: Offers an overview of all your products.
  • Diagnostics: Offers issue reporting across your account and items grouped by the context in which your product data might show.


Instructions

Google Sheets

Make sure you've installed the Supermetrics add-on before you connect.

  1. Open a new Google Sheets file.
  2. Navigate to ExtensionsSupermetricsLaunch sidebar to open Supermetrics.
  3. Click Create new query.
  4. Under Data source, select Google Merchant Center.
  5. Enter the ID of your Google Merchant Center account.
  6. Give your login a name. The name can be anything — its purpose is for you to recognize the login later in case you have multiple logins.
  7. Choose to make this connection shared or private.
  8. Click Start.
  9. Select the Google account associated with your Google Merchant Center account where you want to fetch data from.
  10. Click Allow to allow the Supermetrics app to access your profile data.
  11. In the Supermetrics sidebar, navigate to Report configuration, and select a query type.

Looker Studio

Make sure you've connected Supermetrics to Looker Studio before following the steps below.

  1. Open the Supermetrics Looker Studio data source gallery.
  2. Navigate to Google Merchant Center and click Start free trial.
  3. You'll see two buttons that read Authorize. If you're using Supermetrics for the first time, click the left-hand one and log in with the Google Account you use with Supermetrics.
  4. Once that's done, or if you've done it before, click the right-hand Authorize button (under "Google Merchant Center requires authorization to connect to data").
  5. Select a team that has access to the account you want to connect.
  6. Enter the ID of your Google Merchant Center account.
  7. Give your login a name. The name can be anything — its purpose is for you to recognize the login later in case you have multiple logins.
  8. Choose to make this connection shared or private.
  9. Click Start.
  10. Select the Google account associated with your Google Merchant Center account where you want to fetch data from.
  11. Click Allow to allow the Supermetrics app to access your profile data.
  12. Select a query type to use in your reporting, and click Next.
  13. In the pane's top right, click Connect.
  14. Click Create report.
  15. Click Add to report.

Excel

Make sure you've installed the Supermetrics add-on before you connect.

  1. Open an Excel file.
  2. Click DataShow Supermetrics.
  3. Under Data source, select Google Merchant Center.
  4. Enter the ID of your Google Merchant Center account.
  5. Give your login a name. The name can be anything — its purpose is for you to recognize the login later in case you have multiple logins.
  6. Choose to make this connection shared or private.
  7. Click Start.
  8. Select the Google account associated with your Google Merchant Center account where you want to fetch data from.
  9. Click Allow to allow the Supermetrics app to access your profile data.
  10. In the Supermetrics sidebar, navigate to Report configuration, and select a query type.

The Supermetrics API
  1. Log in to the Supermetrics Hub.
  2. In the left-side menu, under Transform, click Query Manager (API).
  3. Select for Supermetrics API from the dropdown menu next to the page title.
  4. Click Select data source.
  5. Select the Google Merchant Center data source.
  6. Enter the ID of your Google Merchant Center account.
  7. Give your login a name. The name can be anything — its purpose is for you to recognize the login later in case you have multiple logins.
  8. Click Start.
  9. Select the Google account associated with your Google Merchant Center account where you want to fetch data from.
  10. Click Allow to allow the Supermetrics app to access your profile data.
  11. Fill in the query details. See detailed instructions on how to set up a Supermetrics API query in Query Manager.
  12. Click Run to test your query.
Supermetrics Hub
  1. Log in to the Supermetrics Hub.
  2. In the left-side menu, select ConnectData sources.
  3. Scroll down to the list of data sources you haven't connected to. You see this list below your existing connections, under the title Connect to new data source.
  4. Hover over the Google Merchant Center data source, and click Connect.
  5. Enter the ID of your Google Merchant Center account.
  6. Give your login a name. The name can be anything — its purpose is for you to recognize the login later in case you have multiple logins.
  7. Click Start.
  8. Select the Google account associated with your Google Merchant Center account where you want to fetch data from.
  9. Click Allow to allow the Supermetrics app to access your profile data.
