This guide will walk you through how to authenticate Apple Public Data with Google Sheets, Looker Studio, and Microsoft Excel.
Please note that this data source is in early access, which means we're still fine-tuning its features. We'd love to hear your feedback.
Instructions
Before you can authenticate the data source in Google Sheets, you need to install the Supermetrics add-on.
- Open a new Google Sheets file.
- Navigate to Extensions → Supermetrics → Launch to open the Supermetrics sidebar.
- Click Create query.
- Under Data source, select Apple Public Data.
- Navigate to Report configuration.
- Under Query type, select the query type.
- Insert Keyword(s) or App ID(s) for searching apps. To select different apps, separate each one with commas.
- Select App Store country.
- Select the Platform (such as iPhone or Mac) and Maximum results per search term.
- Open this Looker Studio link.
- You'll see two buttons that read Authorize. If you're using Supermetrics for the first time, click the left-hand one and log in with the Google Account you use with Supermetrics.
- Once that's done, or if you've done it before, click the right-hand Authorize button (under "Apple Public Data requires authorization to connect to data").
- Select a team that has access to the account you want to connect.
- Choose to make this connection shared or private.
- Click Start.
- Under Query type, select the query type and click Next.
- Insert Keyword(s) or App ID(s) for searching apps. To select different apps, separate each one with a comma.
- Select App Store country.
- Select the Platform (such as iPhone or Mac) and Maximum results per search term.
- Click Connect on the top right-hand side.
- Click Create report.
- Click Add to report.
Before you can authenticate this data source in Excel, you need to install the Supermetrics add-in.
- Open an Excel file.
- Click Data → Show Supermetrics.
- Under Data source, select Apple Public Data.
- Choose to make this connection shared or private.
- Click Start.
- Navigate to Report configuration.
- Under Query type, select the query type.
- Insert Keyword(s) or App ID(s) for searching apps. To select different apps, separate each one with commas.
- Select App Store country.
- Select the Platform (such as iPhone or Mac) and Maximum results per search term.
