To start using Azure Synapse as a Supermetrics destination, some requirements need to be met. These prerequisites ensure that a working connection can be set up to successfully transfer data to your Azure Synapse SQL pool.
About permissions
You may need specific permissions to verify these prerequisites are met. If you are unable to access some information, please contact your Azure admin.
Prerequisites
SQL pool
You need to have set up a dedicated SQL pool before you can use it as a destination. If you want to use the data within the SQL pool in a Synapse workspace, it should ideally also be set up before creating a data transfer with Supermetrics.
Roles and permissions
The role Synapse User — or any role above it — and SQL permissions for the SQL pool you want to use are required. See Azure Synapse documentation for more information about RBAC roles and access control.
IP allowlisting
If your Synapse workspace only allows access from selected networks, IP allowlisting is needed. See Azure Synapse documentation for more information about managing IP firewall rules.
Grant access to these Supermetrics IP addresses under Settings → Firewall of your SQL server, SQL pool, and/or Synapse workspace. Don't forget to add your own IP address to avoid losing access to your server, pool, and/or workspace.
