Apple Search Ads: Authentication guide

This guide will walk you through how to authenticate or reauthenticate Apple Search Ads with Google Sheets, Data Studio, and Excel, as well as data warehouse destinations like Google Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and the Supermetrics API.

Before you begin

To connect Supermetrics to Apple Search Ads, your account needs the API Account Manager or API Account Read-only user role. Learn about Apple Search Ads user roles in Apple's documentation.

Before you can authenticate Apple Search Ads in Supermetrics, you'll need to download a public key certificate and generate an API key.

  1. Open Apple Search Ads in the Supermetrics sidebar. This will open a dialog in a new tab.

  2. Click Click here to download your public key certificate.

  3. Locate the file in your "Downloads" folder. You should see a .pem file.

  4. Right-click on the .pem file. Click Open with and select a text editor (like Notepad on Windows, or TextEdit on Mac).

Step 2: Generate API client

  1. Log in to Apple Search Ads with your API user account.
  2. Click on your username on the top right, and navigate to Settings.
  3. Copy the whole text from the public key certificate file you downloaded earlier and paste it into the Public key field. The file should include both BEGIN PUBLIC KEY and END PUBLIC KEY.
  4. Click Generate API client.
  5. This will generate the Client ID, Team ID, and Key ID. Click Save to save those credentials.
  6. Return to the Supermetrics login dialog.
  7. Paste the Client ID, Team ID, and Key ID into the fields with those labels.
