Instagram Insights connection guide

This guide contains all permissions and requirements for connecting your Instagram Insights data to Supermetrics.

You can connect to data sources from the Data sources page on the Supermetrics Hub. On the Hub, you can also share an authentication link to connect to a data source you don't have direct access to.

After you connect to the data source on the Hub, you can use the data source connection in all available destinations.

If you'd like to connect your Instagram Public Data to your report, take a look at our Instagram Public Data connection guide.

Required permissions

To connect Instagram Insights to Supermetrics, you need to make sure both your Instagram and Facebook accounts have a specific set of permissions. We have detailed instructions on how to set up the permissions in our Instagram Insights: Permissions guide.

Instagram permissions

Your Instagram account must be:

  • An Instagram Business account (sometimes called a "professional account"), or a Creator account that uses Facebook authentication and isn't restricted, age-limited, or private.
  • Linked to an active Facebook Page which has been claimed.

Visit Instagram's help center to learn how to change your account type.

Facebook permissions

Your Facebook account must:

  • Be a Facebook user account with Insights permissions.
  • If it's using the new Pages experience, the account needs Full control access to the Facebook Page linked to the Instagram account.

Note that Story data is only available in Instagram Insights for 24 hours after a Story is created. This means that you'll need to use the "Combine new results with old" setting in Google Sheets to add this data to your reports. Learn more.
