Use this guide to connect Instagram Insights and Instagram Public Data to Supermetrics.
- Note that data for Stories is only available for 24 hours after a Story is created, so the only way to add it to your reporting is to use the "Combine new results with old" setting in Google Sheets. Learn more.
- Reels data isn't available in the Instagram API, so there's no way to add it to a Supermetrics report.

Before you begin
To connect Instagram Public Data to Supermetrics, you need a Facebook user account linked to an Instagram account with the Manage Page role. Learn more in Instagram's documentation.
To connect Instagram Insights to Supermetrics, you need to make sure both your Instagram and Facebook accounts have a specific set of permissions.
Your Instagram account must be:
- An Instagram Business account (sometimes called a "professional account"), or a Creator account that uses Facebook authentication and isn't restricted, age-limited, or private.
- Linked to an active Facebook Page which has been claimed.
Visit Instagram's help center to learn how to change your account type.
Your Facebook account must:
- Be a Facebook user account with View Page performance and Create ads permissions. Admin access — Manage page isn't required, but will work.
- If it's using the new Pages experience, the account needs Full control access to the Facebook Page linked to the Instagram account.
Instructions
For Excel users
If your team uses Supermetrics for Excel, you'll see different options for managing and sharing data source connections in that destination. Learn more.
Make sure you've installed the Supermetrics add-on before you connect.
- Open a new Google Sheets file.
- Navigate to Extensions → Supermetrics → Launch to open the Supermetrics sidebar.
- Click Create query.
- Under Data source, select Instagram Insights or Instagram Public Data.
- Click Start.
- Log in with a new Facebook account, or click Continue with Facebook to log in with the account you're currently logged in to.
- Choose the accounts and Pages you'd like to add to your reports, and click Next.
- For Instagram Public Data, navigate to Report configuration and select your query type.

Make sure you've connected Supermetrics to Data Studio before following the steps below.
- Open the Supermetrics data source gallery.
- Navigate to Instagram Insights or Instagram Public Data, and click Try.
- Click Authorize.
- If you're connecting either data source for the first time, log in with the Google Account you use with Supermetrics. Click Allow.
- Click Authorize.
- Log in with a new Facebook account, or click Continue with Facebook to log in with the account you're currently logged in to.
- Choose the accounts and Pages you'd like to add to your reports, and click Next.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page. To create a report with our template, select Use report template for new reports. To create a blank report, deselect this option.
- In the pane's top right, click Connect.
- Click Create report.
- Click Add to report.

- Click Data → Show Supermetrics.
- Under Data source, select Instagram Insights or Instagram Public Data.
- Choose to make this connection shared or private.
- Click Start.
- Log in with a new Facebook account, or click Continue with Facebook to log in with the account you're currently logged in to.
- Choose the accounts and Pages you'd like to add to your reports, and click Next.
- For Instagram Public Data, navigate to Report configuration and select your query type.
