This guide will walk you through how to authenticate or reauthenticate LinkedIn Ads and LinkedIn Company Pages in Supermetrics for Google Sheets, Google Data Studio, and Excel, as well as data warehouse destinations like Google Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and the Supermetrics API.
Before you begin
To connect Supermetrics to LinkedIn Company Pages, you need:
A LinkedIn user account with Super Admin or Content Admin access. Learn how to add admin access to LinkedIn pages.
To connect Supermetrics to LinkedIn Ads, you need:
A LinkedIn user account with at least Viewer access to an ad account. Learn how to grant access to LinkedIn accounts.
Admin-level access to the Company Page is required for creative-level granularity (content and metadata of the ads). Please find more information in this guide.
- Follower details: Total number of followers for the page, as well as breakdowns of follower demographic types (industry, what job, what region, etc.).
- Historical share statistics: Basic metrics for posts, shares, and updates, splittable by date (but not post ID).
- Historical follow statistics: Follower metrics for new organic and sponsored followers for the page, splittable by date.
- Page lifetime statistics: Page-specific stats for the lifetime of page (page views, job page views, basic demographics) cannot be split by date.
- Page statistics: Page-specific stats of page (page views, job page views, etc.), splittable by date.
- Share comments detail: Gets comment text details for shares, updates, and posts, and share title.
- Share totals: Lifetime total metrics for shares on the company page. Can't be split by date or by share/post.
- UGC details: Basic dimensions about post types not covered under “Update details” (like video posts), including name, link, and more. Includes update count metrics.
- Update details: Details about updates, shares, and posts (title, poster, URL, etc.), and basic metrics for updates.
Instructions
- Open a new Google Sheets file.
- Navigate to Extensions → Supermetrics → Launch to open the Supermetrics sidebar.
- Under Data source, select Linkedin Ads or LinkedIn Company Pages.
- Click Start.
- Enter your credentials and click Sign in.
- For LinkedIn Ads, select the accounts you'd like to use in your reporting. For LinkedIn Company Pages, select pages instead.
LinkedIn Ads
- Open the Supermetrics data source gallery.
- Navigate to LinkedIn Ads and click Try.
- Log in with the Google Account you use with Supermetrics. Click Authorize.
- Log in to LinkedIn Ads.
- Select the connections you want to use in your reports, or click Add new connection to connect a new account.
- Click Continue to Data Studio.
- Scroll down and adjust settings as you need. At the very bottom, you'll have the option to create a report with our template. Select or deselect Use report template for new reports to change this setting.
- If everything looks good, click Connect in the top-right corner.
- Click Create report.
- Click Add to report.
LinkedIn Company Pages
- Open the Supermetrics data source gallery.
- Navigate to LinkedIn Company Pages and click Try.
- Click Authorize.
- If you're authenticating the data source for the first time, log in with the Google Account you use with Supermetrics. Click Allow.
- Click Authorize.
- Enter your credentials and click Sign in.
- Select the pages you'd like to include in your reporting.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page. To create a report with our template, select Use report template for new reports. To create a blank report, deselect this option.
- Click Connect on the top right-hand side.
- Click Create report.
- Click Add to report.
Add or remove a user account in Data Studio
- Click the edit icon next to the data source's name in the Data Studio sidebar.
- At the top left of the connection pane, click Edit connection.
- Scroll down to Parameters.
- Browse team, account, and license management options in the section beginning "To add more/manage accounts..."
Before you can authenticate the data source in Excel, you need to install the Supermetrics add-in.
- Open an Excel file.
- Click Data → Show Supermetrics.
- Under Data source, select the data source.
- Choose to make this connection shared or private.
- Click Start.
- Enter your credentials and click Sign in.
- For LinkedIn Ads, select the accounts you'd like to use in your reporting. For LinkedIn Company Pages, select pages instead.
