This guide will walk you through how to authenticate or reauthenticate Apple Search Ads with Google Sheets, Data Studio, and Excel, as well as data warehouse destinations like Google Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and the Supermetrics API.
Before you begin
To connect Supermetrics to Apple Search Ads, you need API Account Manager access. Learn about Apple Search Ads user roles in Apple's documentation.
Before you can authenticate Apple Search Ads in Supermetrics, you'll need to download a public key certificate and generate an API key.
Instructions
Open Apple Search Ads in the Supermetrics sidebar. This will open a dialog in a new tab.
Click Click here to download your public key certificate.
Locate the file in your "Downloads" folder. You should see a .pem file.
Right-click on the .pem file. Click Open with and select a text editor (like Notepad on Windows, or TextEdit on Mac).
Instructions
- Log in to Apple Search Ads with your API user account.
- Click on your username on the top right, and navigate to Settings.
- Copy the whole text from the public key certificate file you downloaded earlier and paste it into the Public key field. The file should include both BEGIN PUBLIC KEY and END PUBLIC KEY.
- Click Generate API client.
- This will generate the Client ID, Team ID, and Key ID. Click Save to save those credentials.
- Return to the Supermetrics login dialog.
- Paste the Client ID, Team ID, and Key ID into the fields with those labels.

Instructions
- Open a new Google Sheets file.
- Navigate to Extensions → Supermetrics → Launch to open the Supermetrics sidebar.
- Click Create query.
- Under Data source, select Apple Search Ads.
- Click Start.
- Enter your Client ID, Team ID and Key ID and click Start.
- Select your accounts.
- Open the Supermetrics data source gallery.
- Navigate to Apple Search Ads and click Try.
- Click Authorize to authorize Supermetrics in Data Studio.
- If you're authenticating Apple Search Ads for the first time, log in with the Google Account you use with Supermetrics. Click Allow.
- Click Authorize to log in to your data source.
- Enter your Client ID, Team ID and Key ID and click Start.
- Select your accounts.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page. To create a report with our template, select Use report template for new reports. To create a blank report, deselect this option.
- Click Connect on the top right-hand side.
- Click Create report.
- Click Add to report to complete the authentication steps.
Add or remove a user account in Data Studio
- Click the edit icon next to Apple Search Ads in the Data Studio sidebar.
- At the top left of the connection pane, click Edit connection.
- Scroll down to Parameters.
- Browse team, account, and license management options in the section beginning "To add more/manage accounts..."
Before you can authenticate Apple Search Ads in Excel, you need to install the Supermetrics add-in.
- Open an Excel file.
- Click Data → Show Supermetrics.
- Under Data source, select Apple Search Ads.
- Choose to make this connection shared or private.
- Click Start.
- Enter your Client ID, Team ID and Key ID and click Start.
- Select your accounts.
