Pinterest Public Data: Connection guide

This guide will walk you through how to connect Pinterest Public Data with Google Sheets, Google Data Studio, and Microsoft Excel, as well as data warehouse destinations like Google Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and the Supermetrics API.

Query types

The Pinterest Public Data data source supports 3 query types:

  • Pinterest pins for URLs: Gathers a count of times a specific URL was pinned.
  • Pinterest user data: Gathers data about the user, such as account name, link to profile, follower count, and more.
  • Pinterest pins for users: Gathers data about user pins, such as Pin URL, image, description, and more.

Before you begin

Pinterest Public Data doesn't require you to log in to a specific account. It allows you to collect publicly available data about page and page posts.

Google Sheets Data Studio  Excel Data integrations
Before you can authenticate the data source in Google Sheets, you need to install the Supermetrics add-on.
  1. Open a new Google Sheets file. 
  2. Navigate to ExtensionsSupermetricsLaunch to open the Supermetrics sidebar.
  3. Under Data source, select the data source.
  4. Navigate to Report configuration. Under Query type, select the query type.
  5. Under Type URLs, insert your Pinterest username. You can add more than one name, one each on a new line.
