How to reauthenticate or remove a Data Studio, Google Sheets, or Excel data source

Reauthenticating a data source refreshes your license's connection to it. This can be helpful if you're encountering issues logging in, or if you need to make changes to your connected accounts.

Reauthenticating can solve these errors, among others:

  • Error: Invalid credentials

  • Authentication failed

Instructions

Google Sheets Data Studio  Excel
  1. Open a Google Sheets file.
  2. Click Extensions → Supermetrics → Launch to open the sidebar.
  3. Select a query that uses the data source you want to reauthenticate from the sidebar. Click the 3-dot menu next to its name.
  4. Click Manage data source connection.
  5. In the data source list, click the chevron next to the data source's name.
  6. Click + Add new user.
  7. Authenticate the data source again.

If you're using an older version of Supermetrics, skip step 3. Instead, just select the data source from the sidebar, and then follow steps 5 through 7.

Troubleshooting

  • If you encounter one of the Google errors below, follow these instructions.
    • This action is not supported when you are logged with multiple accounts
    • This was a reauthorization request for user A but you logged in as user B
  • If you encounter an error that reads  No accounts selected, it means you haven't selected any accounts when authenticating the data source.
    • To fix this, open the data source settings (either by selecting the data source in the sidebar in Google Sheets or Excel, or by selecting the data source and clicking the edit icon in Data Studio), and select at least one account under Select accounts. Note that this option sometimes uses a different name — if you're using Google Analytics, for example, it'll read Select views.
