How to Authenticate/Re-authenticate Moz in Google Sheets & Google Data Studio

This guide gives instructions on how to successfully authenticate Moz. Please note that this data source is currently available with Google Sheets and Data Studio only, and not with Microsoft Excel.

"If everything fails..." 


Data Source Access Requirements:

Moz allows you to collect publicly available data about Moz & SEO data. It does not require to log in to a specific account. Thus, no access requirements are required for this data source.


However, to fetch more than 200 rows, you will need to use your own APIs credentials. To do so, please refer to these guides:


Authenticating with Google Sheets:

To authenticate Moz in Google Sheets, please do the following steps:

1. Open up the Supermetrics sidebar in your Google Sheets. 

2. Select Moz in the sidebar, under data source.

3. Select query type

URL metrics returns metrics for a URL or set of URLs you specify (up to 50).
Link metrics returns information about links between a target URL and other pages and domains.

4. Type URL. To select multiple URLs, please separate them with commas or new lines.

5. As optional, you can insert your API key/s in the advanced settings. To learn more, please see How can I fetch Moz data using my own credentials?


You have completed all the authentication steps.


Re-authenticating with Google Sheets:

To re-authenticate Moz in Google Sheets, please go to this guide.


Authenticating with Data Studio:

To authenticate Moz in Google Data Studio, please do the following steps:

1. Click on add data.

2. Search for Moz by Supermetrics and click on it.


3. Click on Authorize. If you wish to learn more about data security and data privacy, please see this page.

4. Insert query type and click on next

URL metrics returns metrics for a URL or set of URLs you specify (up to 50).
Link metrics returns information about links between a target URL and other pages and domains.

5. Type URL. To select multiple URLs, please separate them with commas or new lines.

6. Click on add on the bottom right side to continue.

7. As a final step, click on add to report.



Re-authenticating with Data Studio:

  • Error: "Data Fetch Failed: 403 Permission Denied", please see this guide

Common errors

  • Error: "You're not allowed to run queries with this license #12345. This is because you have not been assigned to the license as a valid user." please see this guide.
  • If you no longer see a specific account/page/etc. when logging in, please see this guide
  • If you haven't managed to authenticate you might be affected by an issue at Google account management. For more information, please see this guide.
