How do I Re-Authenticate a Data Studio Connector?

In some cases, you may need to re-authenticate your user account to the data source for the connector. The below instructions show you how to do this, using Facebook Ads as an example. But these same steps work for almost all connectors.

  1. Click the "Edit" icon next your Data Source (or click Resource->Managed added data sources and click Edit there).

  2. Then click EDIT CONNECTION to go to the authentication settings for the connector.

  3. Find and click the URL given in the "To add more/manage user accounts, visit" section.

Blue arrow points to link to access user accounts section, ""

  4. If your Data Studio account belongs to multiple teams, you will see the option to select the team you wish to use. Click the team name with your license to license to proceed. (If you only belong to one team, skip to step 5).

  5. The URL should lead to a page like below. Click the link reauthenticate here.

  6. If you are already logged into the data source in the browser, the link should automatically log you into that account. If you DO NOT want to do this and want to use another account, clear your browser cookies or log out of the data source in a browser before selecting the link under "Or add a new account." Then you should get the option to log in with another account.
  7. Once the log in is complete, you should see a message like "Authentication successful, you can now close this window." Navigate back to the connector settings page and refresh it.
  8. If applicable to the connector, check that the additional account selection or page selection settings are correct.

  9. Once the settings are confirmed, click RECONNECT in the upper-right corner to save the changes to the data source.

Blue arrow points to blue "RECONNECT" button to save your authentication changes.

  10. You may see a pop-up with the option to UPDATE CREDENTIALS. Click that button to proceed (if not, select the option to GO TO FIELDS instead).

  11. Return to the report and click the refresh icon in the upper right to force update the report and clear any cached errors.
