My Shopify query in Data Studio does not respect “today” as date range?

You may get results for a different date when selecting “today” or “yesterday” as the date range to the Data Studio dashboard.

Reason:

Data Studio does not send our backend the time data, but only the date in a fixed format.

Thus we are unable to convert the data matching for these dynamic ranges for specific timezones.

Workaround:

You can manually edit the timezone for the query in the Data Source configuration view.

Depending on the timezone you are located in, you may need to set the timezone for the data source to UTC+00:00 in order to display the values for “today” and “yesterday” correctly.

It is recommended to enable “Allow Reporting timezone to be modified in reports”. This way you can adjust the timezone only for selected data objects on your dashboard which are utilising the dynamic date range of “today” or “yesterday”.
