Facebook Ads: Query setup guide

Once you’ve authenticated your connection to Facebook Ads, you’re ready to create your first query.

This guide will walk you through Facebook Ads query setup for Google Sheets, Data Studio, and Excel, as well as data warehouse destinations like Google Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and the Supermetrics API.

Before you begin

To connect Supermetrics to Facebook Ads, you need:

  • Employee access with the View performance option enabled in an ad account, or Ad account analyst access to an ad account.
  • For Lead data access, your account must either be a Lead manager or a Page admin.
  • Agencies must have Page admin access.
  • If you’re using the new Pages experience, you need partial access to the linked Facebook account.

Important settings

Conversion window

The conversion window defines how conversion attributions are calculated. We recommend using the same conversion window — called attribution setting in Facebook Ads — as you do for the campaigns/ad sets in Business Manager. Learn more about conversion windows.

Report time of action stats

This setting changes how conversions are counted. On conversion date should be use in most cases. On impression date can be used for historical data.

Note that unless you select another timezone for your query, Supermetrics will use the timezone your Sheet is set in.

Unified attribution

Supermetrics and Facebook Ads both use unified attribution when calculating conversion attribution by default.

Advanced options for Google Sheets

  1. You can filter your data by selecting the field, operator, and value to filter by. Learn more about filters.
  2. Under Options, you can add additional features to your query. Learn more about advanced settings.
