Search Ads 360 Combined Impression Share

Hi,

Any idea when we'll be able to pull combined weighted impression share data? E.g. from a AdWords & Bing account within the same advertiser?

Supermetrics currently reports incorrectly as it adds the two values together - so a 99% IS in AdWords & a 70% IS in Bing would be reported as 169% via Supermetrics.

We're able to view this data weighted correctly within the SA360 UI so feels like it would be possible?

Thanks,

David

  • Hi David,

Can you clarify if this is a new field request or a discrepancy with an existing field in Search Ads 360? Which it is changes how we proceed with the request.

  • Hi Jessica,

It's a discrepancy within an existing field - Search impression share via Search Ads 360.

The discrepancy only occurs when pulling the data from multiple accounts.

    Thanks,

    David

  • Hi David,

Ah, if it's due to multiple accounts, this is probably unfixable due to how we have to pull the accounts one-at-a-time with the API and then sum the results between them for combined values. We generally don't have the means to request the accounts as a calculated total from the API to get the true value.

One possible workaround is if the raw fields are exposed used to make the impression share calculation, that you can gather those and then do the calculation yourself with a spreadsheet formula. However, I don't see that we have the estimated impressions eligible to receive in this connector (Search Ads 360) like we had in Google Ads. Maybe then you have to go even a level down and get those raw metrics from the Microsoft Ads and Google connectors themselves as they have the raw fields and do the math on that.

I'm sorry we don't have a good way to get this due to how account data fetching works with the API.

  • Hi Jessica,

Okay no problem. Is there any scope to bring in the available impressions metric via SA360? Like you say if we could bring this in we could work out impression share manually, and it wouldn't matter that metrics are summed across multiple accounts.

Appreciate the workaround is to run it a level down like you say, but this requires a greater number of queries and increases the risk of error.

    Thanks,

    David

  • Hi David,

There does not appear to be a "available impressions" field in the API. Google Ads itself has the same issue, but we then calculate it from the Impression share metrics themselves (impressions/impression share of type = available impressions of type).

Unless you meant something else by that?
