Using Calculated fields to display ad data for one specific campaign

Hi there,

Does anyone know what formula needs to be used if you want to create a calculated field for one specific Google Ads campaign in your Google Data Studio report? For example, say I have 3 different campaigns in Google Ads:

Campaign 1

Campaign 2

Campaign 3

I want to create a calculated field which only shows me the cost of campaign 1 in a calculated field, however, I'm struggling to find a formula that will allow me to only display the cost data for this campaign. Does anyone have any ideas?

  • Hi Daniel,

    thanks for your question.

A calculated field cannot contain a filter in itself, you need to apply the Campaign name filter on the graph, where you query the metric into.

    For example:

    1. Create a scorecard graph

    2. Add "Cost" as the metric

    3. Choose the wanted date range

    4. Set up a filter (Add filter), saying "Campaign name Equals Campaign 1"

Let us know if you face any issue with this, thanks!

  • Hi Heidi,

    Thanks for your response.

I want to create a stacked bar graph in Data Studio which shows the total cost of all 3 campaigns on a monthly basis. Do you know if there is any way to do this?

I don't think the campaign filter will work for what I'm trying to achieve here as I do want to display the data of all the different campaigns, but I want the data to be segmented so it's easy to analyse.

    Hope that makes sense.
