What's happening
Spotify is sunsetting its current Ads API version on November 13, 2023, and we're migrating to v2 of the Spotify Ads API.
For this reason, we're making changes to our Spotify Ads data source connector on November 8, 2023.
Date range changes
The data source connector will start returning empty data for today's date in queries. This is due to changes in the Spofity Ads API.
Field changes
The following fields will be deprecated:
- Ad set cost type
- Advertiser ID
- Advertiser name
- Country
- Currency
- DMA
- Errors
- Fetch reach
- Fetches
- Platform
- Region
- Render ratio
- Serve frequency
- Serves
- Spend (EUR)
- Spend (GBP)
- Spend (USD)
What you need to do
The actions you need to take depend on the data destination you're using.
No immediate action is required from you.
However, please note the following:
- If you have existing queries that contain any of the deprecated fields, these fields will start returning empty data.
- If you run queries that include "today" in the date range selection, these will start returning empty data for that date.
If you experience any errors after November 8, please edit your query in the sidebar and re-select the fields you want to include in your query.
Also, please note the following:
- If you have existing queries that contain any of the deprecated fields, these fields will start returning empty data.
- If you run queries that include "today" in the date range selection, these will start returning empty data for that date.
No immediate action is required from you.
However, if you wish to re-authenticate or edit the Spotify Ads data source in Looker Studio in the future, this will trigger a complete field list refresh and might cause the Chart configuration incomplete error in your dashboard.
To resolve this, deselect any invalid dimensions and metrics in the Looker Studio sidebar and re-select the fields you want to include.
Also, please note the following:
- If you have existing queries that contain any of the deprecated fields, these fields will start returning empty data.
- If you run queries that include "today" in the date range selection, these will start returning empty data for that date.
If you're using our standard data warehouse schema, no immediate action is required from you. Your transfers will work without interruption.
If you using a custom data warehouse schema, some fields might be deselected and removed from your existing transfers. To resolve this, edit your schema using Query Manager and add the required fields.
Also, please note the following:
- If you have transfers that contain any of the deprecated fields, these fields will start returning empty data.
- If you have transfers that include "today" in the date range selection, these will start returning empty data for that date.
If you experience any errors after November 8, please use the Query Manager to create a new query with the dimensions and metrics you wish to use and generate a new URL.
Also, please note the following:
- If you run queries that contain any of the deprecated fields, these fields will start returning empty data.
- If you run queries that include "today" in the date range selection, these will start returning empty data for that date.
