Issue with Facebook Ads queries failing - 30/08/2021

** UPDATE 21/09/2021 **

We’ve fixed the issues that a Facebook bug was causing in our connector.  We’re going to continue to monitor it closely and work to improve it. We’re truly sorry for the trouble this has caused.

Our team has been assisting Facebook in addressing the issue since it first appeared. Unfortunately, it took some time for the Facebook team to solve it. While the problem was ongoing, it negatively impacted connector performance for many of our customers.

Please run your queries again.

Unrelated to this bug, we’ve seen that some customers with complex Facebook queries are experiencing issues with them. Making those queries lighter has helped. If your query is very complex, here are some steps you can take:

  • Shorten the date ranges.
  • Remove any unnecessary fields.
  • Use fewer accounts in each query.
  • Split a heavy query into several smaller ones.
  • If you’re using Google Sheets, combine new results with old ones.

Should any similar problems persist, please send us info about them to support@supermetrics.com

** UPDATE 13/09/2021 **

Situation has improved since the issue emerged, but sadly some queries are still failing. We are continuing to investigate this issue together with Facebook.

We will update this article as soon as we have more information to share.

** UPDATE 06/09/2021 **

We created a taskforce on our end to double check if there's anything we can do to help, and we did find a component we could improve on our end.

We deployed a fix, and as that improves our load balancing, we have seen further improvement in Facebook Ads queries giving this error as well.

However the problem isn't solved yet, and we're still waiting for Facebook for the definitive fix.

We have discovered an issue with Facebook Ads queries, causing some of them to fail with errors:

Error: Facebook is currently having temporary issues with their API. We failed to fetch the requested data with an error "job failed". We suggest trying smaller queries until Facebook resolves their issues or please try again later

After preliminary investigation it seems there is a problem on Facebook's end, as others have reported similar issues to Facebook: https://developers.facebook.com/support/bugs/870954973514623/

We'll update this article as soon as we have more information to share. Our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience caused by this.
