Google Ads Adjustments for 'Historical Quality Score' Fields - June 10th, 2020

The 'Historical Quality Score' fields have been problematic to use in Data Studio, as the fields are oddly defined as metrics while having text string values. Data Studio expects numbers, so it leads to incorrect behavior in that platform.


To remedy this, we are adjusting the existing metric fields to produce a numeric value to represent the text. We are also adding new dimensions for those fields with the expected text values, so users can decide how best to use those.

This change will happen on June 10th, 2020. 


These are the metrics that will have their values change to numerical values:

  • Historical search predicted CTR
  • Historical landing page quality score
  • Historical creative quality score


The current text values will change as follows:

In addition, these new dimensions will be added that retain the text values:

  • Historical search predicted CTR (text)
  • Historical landing page quality score (text)
  • Historical creative quality score (text)


Depending on what product you are using and what values you need, this should allow flexibility of data and allow Data Studio users to actually take advantage of the fields.


For Data Studio users - You will need to refresh your data source to get the updated field list when this happens on the 10th.
