Google Ad Manager Revenue Behavior Change

Google Ad Manager reporting currently displays revenue data for "Programmatic Guaranteed" and "Preferred Deals" as gross revenue. As of April 1, 2020, net revenue will be used instead, bringing Programmatic Guaranteed and Preferred Deals into alignment with all other transaction types.

This may affect the apparent accuracy of data obtained through Supermetrics, especially historical data.

The following metrics will switch to reporting net revenue in Ad Manager reports and in data coming from the API:

  • Total CPM and CPC revenue
  • Total CPM, CPC, CPD, and vCPM revenue
  • Total average eCPM
  • Ad server CPD revenue
  • Ad server CPM and CPC revenue
  • Ad server CPM, CPC, CPD, and vCPM revenue

Note that while the Google article notes there will be temporary fields added to API v202002 for gross revenue, we are still sadly several API versions behind and will not be able to support those until we complete the upgrade path.
