Microsoft will be deprecating the metric "Average Position" from the Bing Ads API at the beginning of April 2020, at which point the metric will return "0". In preparation for that change, we will also mark the "Average position" metric as deprecated in the Supermetrics Microsoft Advertising connector and add the new prominence metrics that replace the functionality.
The following metric will be moved to the "Deprecated" category and will no longer return data as of April 1st, 2020 - please update your reporting to remove this field:
- Average position
We will also be adding the following new metrics in the coming weeks which are the replacements for the deprecated field:
- Top impressions
- Absolute top impressions
- Top impression rate
- Absolute top impression rate
- Top impression share
- Absolute top impression share
- Top impression share lost to rank
- Top impression share lost to budget
- Absolute top impression share lost to rank
- Absolute top impression share lost to budget
Please be aware there are is a known discrepancy issue with the Top impression rate* fields - see Known Issues with Top Impression Fields in Microsoft Advertising for more information on the issue and how to work around it.
For Data Studio users - You will need to refresh your data source to get the updated field list.
For BigQuery users - We will check if we need to adjust the schema to include the new prominence metrics. You will receive additional notification about these changes.
