How to get started with HubSpot? (Microsoft Excel)

!! Some HubSpot fields require "Content" scope permission which can be only granted by HubSpot Super Admin users. If you have any other user level in HubSpot, read this article first: I don't get any results for certain fields in my HubSpot query !!

  1. Install Supermetrics for Excel with these instructions: First Steps (Getting Supermetrics Into Your Excel File)
  2. In your Excel file, click the DATA tab and then click on the Show Supermetrics widget to start the sidebar.

  3. Once the sidebar opens, check the options under the Data Source tab. If it isn't expanded to start, click on it to expand it.

  4. Click on the data source you wish to log into in the list (in this example, we are going to log into Facebook Ads).

  5. Click "Start" on the new window that opens:
  6. Login with your HubSpot credentials:
  7. Choose which account you want to use:
    1. If you have sufficient permissions, click "Grant access":
    2. If you see this screen, ask your HubSpot subscription administrator to grant you higher permissions:
  8. After completing the authentication, you're ready to start building your dashboard.

Data refresh

A HubSpot account can contain a very large amount of data. To improve performance, Supermetrics caches this data, which means that it might take some time to complete the import when you first connect Supermetrics to HubSpot.

The initial import could take days, depending on the size of the account. Once it’s completed, HubSpot will import data once per day. This means you’ll need to wait for the next daily import to finish if you’re looking for data — on deals or contacts, for example — that’s been modified since the last import.
